How much do I tip my hair dresser?

How much should I tip my hair dresser? she is the owner of the salon so that means she gets 100% of what I pay her does that still mean I should tip her? if so how much? How much do I tip my hair dresser?
15%-20%. Yes you should always tip her. She probalbly does not keep all of the $ for herself, she has to pay for the products (ie- hair dye) she uses and most likely rent too.How much do I tip my hair dresser?
3-5 dollars
I've never tipped a hair dresser...
3-5 dollars. depending on how much you like your haircut.
i'd go with 20% of the services you pay for(:

My hair dresser gave me a perm and now my hair is falling out. I called and he is offering a deep condition!?

What are my options, there is not really any hair now to deep condition. My hair dresser gave me a perm and now my hair is falling out. I called and he is offering a deep condition!?
braid your hair in kinki twist with extensions or micro braid it , order this vitamin called hairfinity it really works and rub castor oil in it just a little . this will keep yor hair in a protective style and help it to grow back dont take out the braids for like 60 days

i had a really bad perm i did this for 100 days and my hair grew 3.5 inches in 3 monthsMy hair dresser gave me a perm and now my hair is falling out. I called and he is offering a deep condition!?
OMG first you need to call the BBB(Better Business Bureau) and tell them about the hair dresser who obviously has no clue what he's doing. Take the conditioning and then when it doesn't work contact the owner of the salon
the deep condition wont work. honestly if i were you i would get a refund and go buy me a wig!

I want my hair doing blonde but i need pictures to show my hair dresser does anyone have any pics?

I want my hair blonde but not totaly blonde. i want like brown lowlights in it but i want them all to mix together but i cant see any pics of it anywhere and ive been looking for an hour.

Thanks

xI want my hair doing blonde but i need pictures to show my hair dresser does anyone have any pics?
my hair is dark brown, almost black, and I got heavy blonde highlights. they use a tipping cap to pull the locks of hair that you want blonde thru it, then they bleach the stuff that is pulled thru the cap, leaving most of your hair dark. this works the same way if you're blonde already, they do it the same, then color your dark highlights in. It looks really cool, and I really like it. :) I spent 10 bucks getting it done in my living room, just go get a box. it's over 50 bucks if you go and have it done... email me if you'd like a picture. :)I want my hair doing blonde but i need pictures to show my hair dresser does anyone have any pics?

wat is the blonde color called? How do i describe these peekaboo highlights to my hair dresser?
Tell her you want a half weave of platnum blonde just on your crown. How do i describe these peekaboo highlights to my hair dresser?
honestly i think the best thing to do is print the picture and show him then tell him you also want more like that on the bottom under your roots(show him where exactly you want more). when i get anything done to my hair i always take a picture so that i don't have to worry about explaining it to my beautician, she can see it.
Best thing to do is bring in the picture and show your hair stylist where you want the ';peekaboo'; highlights to extend to. Good luck.
Just bring him the picture
show him the picture!!

How do I take care of my body wave? My hair dresser was vague.?

It is way more curly than I thought. Does it unwind a bit after I shampoo it? I am just need some ideas on how to corral curly hair until it relaxes. How do I take care of my body wave? My hair dresser was vague.?
It will relax...don't worry. Use some conditioner to help smooth and tone it down a bit for the next little while. Use a mousse or gel while your hair is wet ( to way down the curl a little) and you blow it dry with your fingers kind of placing the curls where you want it. If it is frizzy, you may need what is called a cuticle sealer (biosilk is one product) It goes on in a small amount, rubbed into your hands and then thru your hair, concentrating on the ends...just before your hair is completely dry. Then continue with the blow dryer. You will get the hang of it!How do I take care of my body wave? My hair dresser was vague.?
Well if you just got your hair permed you have to wait 2 days to shampoo it, then if you want to loosen it up a little bit you can buy a box perm, take the perm solution and place this on your hair, comb it through for just a few minutes, making sure you comb from top to bottom, then apply the neutralizer on top of this for another few minutes.comb it well, rinse out and your hair will be less curly.

  • How should I tip my hair dresser?

I usually add the tip to my credit card charge, but should I give him the money directly, since he's not the one at the register? How should I tip my hair dresser?
Cash in hand is always the best for them. It should be 20% of your total bill. If they are very good to you and your hair and you want to keep them be generous. Do not exceed the amount your cut cost though. They will expect a similar tip from you each time you visit.

Good LuckHow should I tip my hair dresser?
Its nicer to give the money directly because then we don't have to pay taxes on them...most salons are honest enough to give the stylist their tip...if I ever cought a receptionist stealing stylist tips I would fire them on the spot
It's fine to put it on the credit card. He will get it.

If you want to make it clear you tipped him; after you pay go up and thank him, tell him you added the tip to the credit card. Say you wanted to make sure he knows, so he gets it.
Why tip a hairdresser? Why tip anyone who is doing the job s/he is paid to do? By all means give a tip if you think the service is exceptional and warrants it but tipping for tipping's sake is something that should be stamped out. You pay someone to cut or style your hair. If the price charged is inadequate it is up to the hairdresser to set prices accordingly not for you to pay above the price asked.
If you think he has done a good job to and if you can spare then why not?
wher do u get ur hair done at??
I tip mine with cash. Then use my credit card to pay for the hair cut.
If the owner of the shop is honest, the additional money added to the card for the tip should be passed onto your stylist.

Bleaching my hair (any hair dressers around?)?

I want to bleach the top layer of my hair..

I did a few strand tests grabbing strands from different sections on my head and a few felt bumpy but a lot of strands also, didn't feel bumpy.

Would i cause too much damage/make my hair fall out if i bleached it?Bleaching my hair (any hair dressers around?)?
If you're not using hair straightening. Combination of chemicals and heating tools are lethal to hair.

If you don't believe me, spend 30 mins. on YA HAIR and read what hair problems are saying.Bleaching my hair (any hair dressers around?)?
Do you have a lot of split ends? Is your hair dried out at all? It all really depends, and its hard to say withought seeing your hair. If you already have lightened your hair, or have color on your hair that would make a difference too. Also you want to be careful what volume of developer you are using and how long you leave the bleach on. If you go to a salon they will most deffinetly be able to give you the answers you are looking for, but if your planning on doing it yourself be extremely careful.
you need to treat it a lot before you bleach, like by using deep conditioners or natural alternatives such as coconut milk and mayonnaise. do it after you've bleached as well

How do i ask my hair dresser for scene bangs?

and can you give me some pics please i have side bangs but i want the scene bangs that are kinda long and choppy

and soo how do i ask her for them?

thanksHow do i ask my hair dresser for scene bangs?
go to photobucket.com and search scene hair and there's nice pics.

and bring the pic to the hairdresser How do i ask my hair dresser for scene bangs?
Go to google images and search for scene bangs, find the ones that you like most print out the pic and show it to her... a picture is worth 1,000 words ;)
pictures for sure but point to how long you want them

trust me and inch to you could be 3 for your hairdresser so be careful
exactly what you just said... long and choppy side bangs

I'm going to get my haircurled at the hair dressers tomorrow for a formal event, will they wash it there?

a friend said they told her to do it before but another said they would. what do you think?I'm going to get my haircurled at the hair dressers tomorrow for a formal event, will they wash it there?
Because your hair shouldn't be freshly washed, they won't wash it there. If the appt. is in the morning, wash it asap. If it's in the afternoon, washing it tonight before bed would be best. Don't use conditioner or if you do, just a tiny bit and water it down. All the hairdressers I know don't want you to have freshly shampooed and conditioned hair when you arrive for an updo or formal style.I'm going to get my haircurled at the hair dressers tomorrow for a formal event, will they wash it there?
    Hello , Good Afternoon !

If you are going to the hair dresser with just the intentions of curling your hair then I believe they will just curl it .

If you wash it from home they will be able to notice and just curl it .

But instead of washing it yourself and breaking your back to wash it they dont just pay the extra $10 -15 and get it washed

Hope you have fun @ your formal event

P.S. dont get yur hair curled too much it can damage your hair and also reduce the mositure
Some places don't want you to wash it before they do it so that your hair will hold better if it's dirty. I'd call and ask...I'm sure they get asked all the time.
They usually like to curl your hair and style it dirty. Its suppose to set and stay better. If you really want to I would wash your hair before at your house.
Yeah almost all salons wash your hair before fixing it.
usually if its an updo, they leave it dirty. The curl holds better in dirty hair
Maybe- but why would it hurt just for you to wash it that morning
    If you ask them to!
yes they will wash it just ask

How much should I tip my hair dresser?

I think I over tip. I have short hair and I get a color touch up and a trim. How much should I tip my hair dresser?
that is alot. but do whatever u want really. i usually do 3-5 but she isnt the bbestHow much should I tip my hair dresser?
That's a personal decision, imho... If you are making the check out to the salon, then tip 10 to 20 percent. Since she is employed by the salon. If you make the check out directly to the stylist, I don't see a need to tip. She is renting the station, there for self employed.
Tipping your hairdresser isn't really about how much it costs to have your hair done. It's more about the quality of the color and cut you receive. If your hairdresser consistently gives you what you are looking for and is friendly and personable, simply tip them more than you would tip someone else. I believe the universal tip is 15% of the bill, but like I said, if they are doing an excellent job, tip them a bit more.
well for me to decide if you over tip, how much do you tip?

stylist dont expect a tip so its nice when you give them one. but for shirt hair and a retouch and trim i would say about 5-7 dollars. esp. if they take the time to dry it and style it and talk to you about the products to use on it at home to keep it looking the way it does. mainly the tip is about how much time they spend with you and ho0w comfortable they make you feel and how the finished product looks. but if you feel you need to tip 0 or 100 do so. its completely up to you and your experience at the salon.
probably min. is 10% but if it looks real gud 15%
it depends on if they do a good job on ur hair. if they do $6 if they don't don't tip any.
On the one hand, I think tipping is ridiculous. People in the service industry are already getting paid an hourly rate and I'm probably being over charged for the product. I don't feel it's my responsibility to compensate what your paycheck lacks.

HOWEVER...the person who does my hair does more than just touch up and trim. She's been working with my hair for over a year now and does a great job. Comes up with things I would never think of. If I went somewhere else and had someone consulting with me on my hair style, I would pay much more than what I am charged. She could easily just cut and color what I want and keep her mouth shut about new ideas...but she doesn't. She seems to have fun with it actually...and I love it. So I tip her anywhere from $10-20.

If you think you over tip, though..give less.
    拢3 ish.

    pay enough already :L :)

Why doesnt my hair dresser put relaxer at the ends of my hair?

i get my roots relaxed by the hair dresser doesnt relax any other part of my hair..

my hair ends up looking really stupid because once i'm out in humid weather the roots stay all nice and straight but my ends get sooo poofy and using a flat iron on them doesn't help at all.

why isn't my hair dresser putting relaxer at the ends of my hair?

is it too damaging for your ends? Why doesnt my hair dresser put relaxer at the ends of my hair?
because the ends have already been relaxed :: relaxer is permanent so there is no need to keep applying the same chemicals to the hair over and over

your ends may be damaged and that's why they poofy :: you should use olive oil products on your hair :: that will keep away the frizzies =]Why doesnt my hair dresser put relaxer at the ends of my hair?
Some people (kitchen beauticians) still apply relaxer to the entire strand of hair to try to assure bone straightness, but in general all they are doing is damaging their hair. Very rarely will a stylist go back over a portion of hair they maybe didn't take the relaxer the first time, but you have to be careful about overlap.

Your hair is not frizzing because it is not straight, its flizzing because its damaged and dry. You need to trim your ends and start applying a moisturizer at night to the ends (any area you notice frizz from 1-2 inches from the roots)- not gel or setting lotion -but moisturizer. Styling products made with water or alcohol should really be used sparingly - like when you have a freeze style

You can also use a silicone anti frizz serum or a light oil during the day, I sometimes have to when I can ';smell the rain'; in the air.
A relaxer can be used at the ends but it should be used mainly for the new growth at the scalp because that is the newest hair on the head. You can have your hair dresser put the relaxer on your hair all the way I've never known one that didn't and if it doesn't look good the way she does it then maybe your seeing the wrong person for the job.
because the ends of your hair have already been relaxed. if you use the chemicals on one part of the hair too many times it will become dry, split and break off, not to mention your hair will not grow longer through having split ends.

ask your hairdresser how you can eliminate the poofyness in humid weather. she will most likely recommend some good hair sprays and conditioner/shampoos.
    hey =)

i get a perm every month so let me tell you.

if your hair dresser were to put the relaxer on the ends of your hair,

your hair would become damaged at the ends. you'd get

unruly split ends and possibly start losing your hair. see if

your hair dresser can hot comb the ends for you. it works for

me very well, and trust me, my hair is CRAZY! lol

    hope i helped. =)
i dont think so coz i get my hair relaxed all the way through just ask your hair dresser to put it on the ends or to just cut the ends off where it looks silly hope this helps

My hair dresser quoted my 500 for japanese hair straightening. Is this over priced?

Keep in mind that he is in downtown Toronto and he is a very good hair stylists.

My hair is pretty short. My curls, when pulled straight, hang down to my eyes.

I'm just worried this is way too over priced. If this is reasonable for a good salon, than I'm comfortable shelling it out.My hair dresser quoted my 500 for japanese hair straightening. Is this over priced?
I have been getting that done for a couple of years and mine is nearly $1,000. Lucky for you! But it does not last forever. Hair grows out. There will soon be a line where the unstraightened hair meets the chemically treated. That takes about a year though for it to be above your ears. It will never fade out though! Have fun with your beautiful new hair!My hair dresser quoted my 500 for japanese hair straightening. Is this over priced?
    50-100 dollars? PSYCHE.

Thats the range for a really good professional haircut with an experienced stylist.

And yes, it does last forever, most of these people shouldn't be answering questions they don't know about.

Your hair sounds short, but the starting place at most salons is about 475, so its not 'overpriced', just expensive.
OMG!!!! yes absolutely. what it would cost her for the stuff needed to do it would be around 50-100 dollars. it may very well be a good salon but paying 5x the amount what it costs the salon (which they probably get in quantities at a lower cost) is absolutely ridiculous. especially being that your hair is shorter. i could see if your hair was extremely thick and down to your butt-but its not. i would call other places and see what their prices are. ......i mean its not like your hair will be straight forever-eventually you will have to get it redone.-your roots need to get redone after awhile no matter what anyone tells you. you get about an inch or two and you have to get your roots done-otherwise you will look ridiculous. i have done this procedure before.
That sounds about right. It is very expensive, and it would be best for you to go to a good professional stylist to get it done.
For straightening hair at home, you can use a hair iron and a straightening shampoo will also help. If you wish to straighten for a longer time, you can undergo Japanese hair straightening. I found this website useful - http://hcr.in/straighten.html
it is over priced. I don't think it will last forever. that's a hurbilie
I think it's over priced. It won't last forever.

Dark colour, side parting, layers, wavy... just use regular words, or bring a picture with you (plenty of people do!). Describe exactly how long you want it visually, with your hands, so there is no room for personal interpretation! Also discuss with them whether you need a low/high maintenence 鈥榙o, talk about how to care for it. Don鈥檛 read a magazine while you鈥檙e having it cut. This is especially useful when having it styled and dried, because you can pick up tips or ask for instructions on how to keep it looking fabulous. How do I describe this to my hair dresser?

Try going to a hair salon where they specifically do hair cuts that are punk. I would definately try toni%26amp;guy. They're kinda expensive (depending if you get someone experienced or not as experienced) but it'll definately be worth it. An old roommate of mine works there and she does my hair wonderfully. I get my haircuts for free though since she's a friend, so I don't really know the average price for a hair cut. Sorry.

Tell her you want bangs, but not side swept bangs or just plain old cropped bangs, but bangs in between. Say by in between I mean bangs that sweep over to the side without being crazy. Show her how far you want them to be swept over and how long you want them to be. I would send you a picture, but I don't know your personal preferences on how or where you want your bangs. I'd suggest going to google images or look up hair magazines online to illustrate how you think your bangs should look like.

They will do whatever you ask them to; they get paid, and it's their job. If you are really that uncomfortable their, go somewhere else!

I hope it works out for you!

Will you answer mine if you can? I don't have a link...Would my hair dresser think this sounds crazy?
Im glad i picked up the right vibes on this, I figured it was a ';up-tight'; people kinda thing...

In that case, I would call of the appt all together, and re-sched with a brand new stylist, jsut for this cut. This sounds important to you, so dont allow someone else's opinion to ruin wat sounds like a rad chop job. and honestly, your beuatician should never really offer her two cents so much that you feel this way (permanent change?)

In any case, I would recommend someone of Pacific Island/Asian decent to cut you, seriously. (where I live you can walk in-between five different cultures, in a 5 block radius). They are the most cutting edge (no pun intended) wen it comes to real, hardcore fashion.

Also, I am seeing im ages of Rhianna's first chop job, very chic and tredny, yet edgy and ballsy. I would add some hilights, or you might want to wait until summer so they are fresh

    Hope that helps!

    FIERCE_09
They really cant tell you what you can do with your hair... I mean you are PAYING them to cut you hair the way that you want it... not how they want it.. so go for what ever you want cuz they are not the ones that are getting there hair cut like that so there opinion shouldn't matter... but something you may want to think about is if they will do a good job cutting your if that way if they aren't experience doing it your style..... hope this helps!
As a stylist of 20 years i say good for you creating your own personal look. i would suggest taking in a couple of pictures you think reflect the cut you want. any good stylist will spend time listening and adding suggestions. try a consultation first, most do this for free and if you are not confident that the stylist understands your needs then move on to another until you find a good fit.

    good luck
its your hair! they have to do what you want them to and how! Dont be afraid to say what you want!!!!

How do i explain this to my hair dresser?

I have long straight hair, and i want a lot of layers.

I want short layers, and i want to get a side swept fringe.

And i want to have my layers on my side fringe. How do i explain this to my hair dresser?
Thats fine - You might want a picture.

http://www.ukhairdressers.com/style/inde鈥?/a> - if i was a hairdresser i would cut it like - is that right? How do i explain this to my hair dresser?
Well, im getting side swept bangs and highlights soon, and im bringing in a picture i found of the bangs, so just bring in a picture and write down on the back what you want, i guess...
    You say:

I have long straight hair, and i want a lot of layers.

I want short layers, and i want to get a side swept fringe.

And i want to have my layers on my side fringe
explain to them the way you explained to us.

    and take it easy.
just tell your hairdresser that, or find a picture of how you want your hair and show her.
Tell her that. You don't need to know the technical cutting terms.
to say what u just explained to us

What should I buy my hair dresser for Christmas? I go to her all the time.?

I need some ideas, I have an appointment with her, and I got to buy something tonight! What should I buy my hair dresser for Christmas? I go to her all the time.?
I really dont think you can go wrong with a gift set from Bath and Body.. After all, hair dressers like to feel pampered too!!What should I buy my hair dresser for Christmas? I go to her all the time.?
i think the next time you go or see her, you should casually ask her what she wants for christmas. for example, im exited for christmas, i really want a blah blah blah, what do you want? ifs she says something big, like say a new dog, get her like a collar for the dog.
Chocolate, candy, perfume, lotion/beauty products, hair straightner, curler, gift card, BIG tip, makeup..i dunno thats all i can think of
You can't go wrong with something like chocolate. You don't want to get something like a curling iron or a spa trip because they most likely have the best. Chocolate shows that you were thinking about her and does not imply that you were asking for a gift back.

How would I go about telling my hair dresser this?

Well, I have a picture of a hair style I want. I am going to get my hair cut ';Scene';. Do I just hand the picture to my hair dresser? Will she know how to cut it like the picture? By the way. I am going to a new hair dresser. I don't like my old one. So any help on how to show my hair dresser the picture and explain to her how I want my hair? How would I go about telling my hair dresser this?
Yes. Show the picture to your new hair dresser. She will know the basic layout of the style. You can ask her if this cut will frame your face. Even ask her about similar haircuts which will make you look your best. Good Luck. How would I go about telling my hair dresser this?
    1. Show her the picture

    2. Point to the length you want to achieve (the longest point)

    3. Confirm that she understands what you understand you want by asking her what she sees and what you told her.

If she uses any hairstylist terminology aka piecy layers, ';texture';, etc ask her to clarify.

Scene hairstyles are usually called 'high fashion mullets'; if shes younger that should make her understand completely.
Switching hair dressers is a big risk first of all but then giving a new hair dresser a picture of a cut to emulate can be quite tough. The new hair cutter doesn't know your hair or personality. It's a risk, don't expect exactly what is in the photo, but make sure you've done your research about the new hair dresser you have chosen.
Hand her the picture and tell her and ask her if she can do that. Don't forget to include little details that you might want to add to make it worth while. It would also be good if she told you how she planned to do it so that you can be aware and make changes at any time.
Well hand her the picture and tell her that you would like your hair to be like that then maybe tell her certain things in the picture ....point out the less obvious things that you would like to be done.
communication is the key to a happy client and hairstylist. She should be able to look at the picture and be fine with that. I always like to repeat what the client tells me so that there is no misunderstanding. Make sure she does this.
You give it too her then ask her does she know how to do it that will be best.

How do I start a conversation with my hair dresser?

I'm getting my hair cut in 2 days. I'm usually not really a quiet person, but I just think It's awkward... Like, what should I talk to her about? I'm not going to just sit there for 30 mins in silence? Help? Thanks =]How do I start a conversation with my hair dresser?
i know what u mean, lol akward!

if they're a good hairdresser then they'll start a good conversation with you. It part of their job.How do I start a conversation with my hair dresser?
You won't have to start a conversation as she will do that. It's part of her job, and she'd be used to it. Don't feel awkward, i often sit there for a couple of hrs not talking to my hairdresser if i'm tired.
just be like... so how long have you been doing this, and do you enjoy it, and that should start a conversation from there...good luck next time.

I use Matrix (orange bottle), guess that shampoo is goin to go to waste, inless I can stop useing a Clarifying Shampoo kind.My hair-dresser told me to wash my hair with a Clarifying Shampoo everyday because?
if you use clarifying shampoo everyday, your hair will just be super dry. don't do itMy hair-dresser told me to wash my hair with a Clarifying Shampoo everyday because?
I use suave clarifying shampoo. I buy it at Target for $1.50! I use it everyday to clean out all the product I put in my hair and then I use a moisturizing shampoo so it doesn't dry it out! My hair looks really shiny and feels clean and not weighed down! I would recommend it!

  • How do tell my hair dresser she is too expensive?

She is a friend of the family and has cut my hair for 10 years. She is now charging $100 per haircut. I don't know how to tel her I am going to go out and find another hairdresser. Help. How do tell my hair dresser she is too expensive?
Well for starters you can't tell her that she is ';too expensive';. The truth is she wouldn't be charging these prices if noone was paying them because she would have no clients. Someone must be paying her. However, you must have a heart to heart talk with her and tell her that there is no way you can afford these rates. If you put it that way it takes the blame off her and she will understand. That way you guys may be able to work something out since you are a freind of the family. Take it from a hairdresser, don't just leave her without talking to her about it first though...there are people you work out special arrangements with. Just remember to be tackful with your choice of words. Good luck with the conversation...I know it can be uncomfortable. How do tell my hair dresser she is too expensive?
i would just look other places. If she ever asked you why you stopped going to her, tell her the haircut price was to much for you.
Just stop asking her to cut your hair
Your friend has the right to charge what she wants for her services. You also have the right to decide how much you're willing to pay for a haircut. Just tell your friend that the price increase means you can't afford her service anymore, and you don't want to disrespect her by asking for discounts, so you're in the market for a new stylist. If indeed a friend, she'll understand.
just find another hair dresser. if she asks, tell her the truth
u can say this: example name cause idk what her name is.

Sandra im really srry but im gonna have 2 find someone else because your charging me 2 much n i just cant afford it but when your price is cheaper i would be more than happy 2 come back if thats ok with u. im really sry.
tell her that, while you're very happy with her work, her new prices are a bit of of your comfort zone. if she is bold enough to ask friends to pay that amount of cash, then she should be professional enough to manage a business relationship with you.

btw, that is an outragous price for a cut. i've had cheaper cuts from the best salons in la and san francisco. you are getting taken.
Well it depends...is she worth it? I got a haircut from a designer place in Boston and it WAS worth it, even if it was expensive. If she is good enough, then you can just ask her if she can lower the price a little, because you have to make a living. Imagine if you ever have kids and you still go to her, you would have to pay like $300. Switch for a little and if you don't like your new hairdresser, then go back. Maybe you can go to her when you are getting it styled or you are in desperate need for a nice cut. Hope this helps
just tell her your kinda of short on money right now andif she could give ya a lil discount or your going to change hairdressers.
Ask her for a deal and just tell her you think that it is wayy to expensive or find someone else without telling her
    Buy a robocut machine.
$100 per haircut? Wtf...I know a place that cuts them for like $15!

How do i tell my hair dresser i want choppy layered Scene hair?

Like, how do i say it?How do i tell my hair dresser i want choppy layered Scene hair?
honestly, the best thing is to bring a picture of the hairstyle you want with a front back and side view. you can never express exactly what you want with just words. How do i tell my hair dresser i want choppy layered Scene hair?
i want choppy layered scene hair.

    haha. no.

bring a picture of the style you want [either draw or print or something] and tell her exactly what it is you want: choppy layers above and around the ears, thinned out at the bottom, short stacked layers at the top.

if it's not exactly what you want at first, go home and tease it. if it's still not pooffy enough for you, go back and ask her if she can make the layers shorter or something.
find a pic of the hair you are somewhat interested in and show it to her... she probably would understand if you told her you wanted it choppy and layered.. if the picture isn't perfectly the style you want show it to her anyway and try and modify it the words will come to you as you say it and i bet she'll understand
Just say something like this when they ask ';Well I would like it thin at the bottom parted to the side (say which side) really choppy and I want short pieces at the top so they'll poof up'; and they should get the drift of what your looking for, (:.
tell her ';i want choppy layered scene hair'; she probably will know what scene hair is, my guess is that a lot of people go and want scene hair.

also you should bring a picture of the exact cut u want then she will know what to do.
Bring a picture, it will help alot. Words cannot sometimes explain things so this will help. Make sure the picture has all the views so he/she knows exactly what you want. Hope the haircut turns out well!

    xoxo

Best the way is to just bring in a picture.

If you go to photobucket you can find 1,000's of scene hair pictures.
    a picture= a thousand words.
bring a pic and i think they can pull it off.
Mr/Mrs.(whatever his/her name is), can you please give me choppy layered scene hair?
Bring in a picture of a cut you want they'll do it for you. Or draw your own.
just say you want choppy layers all around
tell her what you just said, and bring a picture.
I agree bring a pic and tell her exactly what u told us!

What terms should I use with my hair dresser in this situation?

My hair dresser went overboard with the amount of platinum blonde highlights?

My hair dresser went overboard with the amount of platinum blonde highlights. I like the platinum blonde color; however, there are too many. I like my hair to have it's natural dirty blonde streaks left uncolored and right now It looks more as though it has been dyed rather than highlighted. How can I get the highlighted look back at home? Will buying a dirty blonde box color work? Or will that make it even more blonde? What about light brown? My hair dresser went overboard with the amount of platinum blonde highlights?
I would just buy a light brown color.

But if you can, go to another hair dresser to get it done instead of doing it yourself. When putting brown over bleached hair it isn't easy to get it the color you want. Hope you get it fixed.(:My hair dresser went overboard with the amount of platinum blonde highlights?
Don';t touch your hair that you just paid to get professionally done! Call your hair dresser, tell them that its a little too much for you. They can either tone you or put a few lowlights in. They should do it for free and if not just a small color charge no more than $20. Call them before you do anything, especially with blonde!!
Don't. Just go back to the salon and explain that it is not what you wanted. She should (for free) take some of those highlights and tone them back to your natural color.

Im 13 and want to work at my local hair dressers....?

theres quite a few i could apply to, do you think i would be allowed? and what would i be doing there?

il be 14 in 2 months

thanks =D x xIm 13 and want to work at my local hair dressers....?
if you got a work permit and were willing todo clean up then yea Idont see why notIm 13 and want to work at my local hair dressers....?
they might hire you to sweep hair, but most states have child labor laws. i'm almost positive most states will not hire anyone under the age of 15, unless it is a private business.

if you're thinking about doing hair, think again. you must have a license to work at a hair salon.

don't be in such a hurry to get a job- you are young, and you have your whole life to work. don't rush into growing up.

at your age, a job would be an undue burden, because you may be forced to sacrifice time that you may need to be spending on other, more important things, such as schoolwork.
i think u wud be old enough - if u wanna do hairdressing u'll def have an edge over most school leavers
i doubt a salon would hire you.. they usually have girls in there mentoring that run the desk/books.

you wouldn't be able to wash hair or touch anyone that came in the salon because you don't have a cosmetology lisence and that would be considered illegal.

the only places i know that hire 14 yr olds are grocery stores and SOME restuarants where you could bus tables.

it would be wrong for someone as young as you to work in a salon.
    Good luck......
i think if its a saturday job u may be aloud aslong as it doesnt interfear with your school classes then it may be ok but it depends on the owner of the hair dressers.

good luck (i wanted 2 work in my local hairdressers when i was your age but i didnt go for it lol)
They'd probley might allow you, But it depends on what age you have to be to be able to work, Which is Generally around 15...But if they did allow you to work, You'd probley be like a Shampoo girl, or Sweep hair,...You can't do the 'Real' hairdressing stuff(Like Coloring hair, Hair Cutting, Etc.) cause you need a license..Oh and just to tell ya, You probley won't be able to be booking appointments like most of the people said..Salons usually have securtary(Spelt wrong I know.) type people sitting at the desk.
why don't you ask the salon?
If you do get a job at a local hair dresser's, you'd most likely sweep up the shop or be a go-getter. I definitely don't think you'll get a job doing people's hair, unless you can prove you have talent.
Generally you need to be 16.
u could but you will probably be expected to sweep up, make tea and book appointments [x][x]
As a minor, you will need working papers to work legally. Laws regarding when and where a minor can work, and what they are allowed to do (and not allowed to do), differ by state. What state do you live in?
most salons do not hire unless you have a cosmetology license. My sister is a cosmetology student and she helps out at a local salon (unpaid), basically they have her sweep the hair off the floor, wash customers hair, sometimes brush and dry customers hair, and she also learns new techniques that she has not learned in school. But she is not actually allowed to work on customers, take tips, or be paid since she does not have a license.

if you are seeking a job for extra cash, i would suggest taking up babysitting, it's extra cash and you would not have to work all the time or be required to get working papers, which you are required to have to be able to work under the age of 18.
they normally take young teens on for saturdays

u would start with sweeping up and making tea

but after a month or two they teach you how to hair dress then when u get good at it u become a hair dresser and someone else joins and does the sweeping.
I think you have to be 14 to work.

You would probably doing the books (like keeping track of apointments), cleaning up, stock, and/or possibly washing hair.

I have micro braids in my hair and im wondering if when i take them out should i get a perm, go natural, or continue with the the micro braids?A ? 4 my hair dressers (other people with experience with hair)?
the best thing to do with your hair if you want it to grow longer is learn to braid the extensions in your hair yourself... once you are able to braid your own hair (which will most likley be NOT tight) your hair will grow... the ends of your hair is whats braking... and especially if you have kinky hair... if you perm it your hair is going to need EXTRA moisture... and LESS manipulation inorder for it to grow... here are a few sites that talk about that kinda stuff... it will help you more with your decision... whichever you choose (my mom is black, and shes a hair dresser so i know this stuff!)

this site talks about EVERYTHING.. basically to grow your hair..:

    http://www.growafrohairlong.com/videopla鈥?/a>

this site is basically definitions on certain products and stuff:

    http://www.sizta2sizta.com/home.htm

this site is women of all hair types who come here to show how long their hair has grown, using varios hair methods; this girls hair grew REALLY long by simply braiding her hair with extentions over a period of time (she braided the extensions in her hair herself):

Here is a youtube video that shows you how to braid extensions in your own hair..:

i learned how to braid my own hair by watching this.. (although i dont put extensions in my hair often) my lil cousin who is full black i always braid her hair in extensions her hair is really long since i been doing that.. past her shoulders!

Depending on how long you have had them in your hair you should go natural for several weeks. The hair has been pulled and tangled for sometime and needs time to relax, so do not get a perm immeditately or that will cause further damage. Use a good conditioner, (I prefer Motions) one that you leave on for atleast an hour under a plastic cap to allow the hair to really benefit from the treatment.
i am a stylist from va.. i suggest you take a break from micros, be careful about relaxing, and going natural is an option. when you first take the micros out, shampoos and do a deep conditioning recovery treatment. come hair out completely because there will be some hair loss because the natural shedding process was eliminated when the braids are in.. so it will come out once you take them out.. but don't worry this is natural...what ever you decide, get it done professionally... you can get a relaxer if you want, just make sure you trim your ends and really know when you had your last relaxer... good luck
I just took my micros out 2 weeks ago and my stylist permed me right away. No burning and no excessive hair loss. I was fine. Just remember, you lose 80 to 100 strands of hair per day so just multiply that by the number of days that you hair has been braided. Go for the perm you'll be fine!

How do i keep my hair feeling soft after ive been to the hair dressers?

im going to the hair dressers on the 11th of march to get my highlights done, whenever i get my hair done at the hair dressers it always feels light and soft, but then as soon as i wash it, it goes back to being the way it was, a mess in other wordsHow do i keep my hair feeling soft after ive been to the hair dressers?
Learn to blow dry your hair like they do. That is what it is. Ask your hair dresser to teach you. Basically you section your hair, then brush and blow dry layer by layer section by section. You blow dry it from the root down as you are brushing, with the blow dryer pointing down. Oh, btw you should brush the tangles out before you do this. USe a good leave in conditioners and a shine serum. I like Catwalks camera ready and rusk smoother. How do i keep my hair feeling soft after ive been to the hair dressers?
exacetly like sashaio said. It's all to do with the products, when i'm drying someone's hair i always use a heat defence first and finish with a smoothing creme or a serum. Also if your blowdrying your own hair remember to keep the nozzel in a downward position this will really help. Before i became a hairdresser i always used to wonder the same thing...... it's not just about getting a good blowdry but this will help. I do my own hair just as god as what anyone could do it for me, only downside is drying my own hair takes alot longer.

ok me and bandb09 have a slight difference of opinion. although i do agree what your saying i still believe products help as well. Yes he may charge 拢45 for a bottle of the stuff but you can get a cheaper one that will still do the same. Only use a small amount of shampoo and wash your hair twice, if your hair doesn't lather up on the first wash it will on the second. Then use only a small amount of conditioner like the size of a 50p coin if you have med/longish hair. Only apply this to your mid lenghts and ends and then smooth over the little you have left on your hands to the roots of your hair, over using products on your hair will make your hair lank and hard to manage. ( common misunderstanding that the more conditioner you use the better ) I use redken now which is very expensive but before i used andrew collinge and found his collection to be very good. and i think i got a pack with shampoo conditioner and a deep conditioning treatment for 拢12
    Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner.

Your hair is organic matter. It needs to be nourished by organic matter. Most shampoos and conditioners use petroleum based moisturizers. The molecules of petroleum are too large to penetrate. The large molecules also seal the hair, preventing any small amount of nutrients that might be in conditioner into the hair shaft.

    http://www.aubrey-organics.com/ProductIn鈥?/a>
it all starts at the shampoo bowl.

1st get yourself a professional shampoo and conditioner. something for color treated hair.

Then when you blow dry, you need to use the proper styling products. Quite often we use a shine serum of some sort...like Biosilk Silk Therapy and use it in damp hair and blow dry. Then at the end, use a tiny tiny dab of it to polish off the rest of your hair.

And make sure you are doing deep conditioning treatments once a week.
its nothing to do with products, trust me!!! its the quality of the blow dry. i used love that soft sleeky feeling untill my hair fell out from chemo. my hair is back very fine now and after a good blow dry its just way too soft and fine now - it looks way thicker now when i just do it myself but not as soft.
    Yeah I'm no hairdresser either

but when I blow my hair it just poofs out

But when the hairdresser dries it, it lays flatter

You need to blow dry your hair like how your hairdresser does

You need to bleach your hair and then dye it the tone of blond that you want. How do i turn my red hair blond again without going to the hair dressers?
well you can use an on-the-scalp bleach and then tone it! But that all depends on how light you want it and what you want it to look like when you are done! you also have to be careful because people who try it on there own process it to long then it is damaged beyond repair or it falls out!

How do i get my hair like it is in the hair dressers?

when i come out of th hairdresser my hair feels really nice and smooth and i always love the style. once i wash it, it never feels the same and looks completely different....any advice? How do i get my hair like it is in the hair dressers?
Ask your hairdresser what she recommends, or uses. That should help, and what i use on my hair is

Back to Basics Rich moisture Shampoo

Back to Basics Rich moisture Conditioner

    Biosilk Silk Therapy

    Conditioning Ceramic Flat Iron

And it makes my hair feel very soft and silky. Not EXACTLY how the hair dresser gets it, but pretty darn close.

If you need any more info just let me know. I can give you links and what not.

Hope this helpsHow do i get my hair like it is in the hair dressers?
The products and tools the salon uses to style your hair both have an impact on how your hair looks and feels. I recently purchased a high-end straightening iron (Chi), and have found it works wonders. Additionally, I would suggest researching high-end blow dryers and product. Ask your salon for suggestions.
Does the hairdresser blow dry it? Or use products? Ask her what she uses for products and she'd probably love to sell you whatever it is.

Tell them that you want to keep the length as u want to grow it longer and to just taken the dead ends off. That's what I do.What do i ask at the hair dressers so i can grow my hair long??
here is what i would do if i had that short hair.when ur mom says u have to get a hair cut just tell the beauty stylist that u want it trim.and if u want it longer just get hair extensions.i have a good hairstylist and she is wonderful!but she says u have to get hair extensions and she will glue them on .so the best help i will give u is go to the nearest Sally's beauty store.or something like that.

she has great choices.or her store does..good luck and hope u have good results
ask for a trim and say you dont want anymore than an inch
';Trim the ends no more than 1/2';, my mum is insisting I get my hair cut';.
tell her your trying to grow it out and you just want her to trim it up a little bit..she will understand
Trim the ends thats all. Is what I would tell them
    just trim the edges
Just tell them that you don't want your hair cut!! Like it's that simple just say it!!
Just tell her you need a trim but want to keep the length.

Its really precise how i want it and ive seen lots of people wih it out and about but it would be weird to take a pic of a random person so i was wondering if anyone has or can easily get hold of the sort of hair i want...

    Thanks

xI want my hair doing blonde but i need pictures to show my hair dresser does anyone have any pics?
my hair is dark brown, almost black, and I got heavy blonde highlights. they use a tipping cap to pull the locks of hair that you want blonde thru it, then they bleach the stuff that is pulled thru the cap, leaving most of your hair dark. this works the same way if you're blonde already, they do it the same, then color your dark highlights in. It looks really cool, and I really like it. :) I spent 10 bucks getting it done in my living room, just go get a box. it's over 50 bucks if you go and have it done... email me if you'd like a picture. :)I want my hair doing blonde but i need pictures to show my hair dresser does anyone have any pics?

honestly i think the best thing to do is print the picture and show him then tell him you also want more like that on the bottom under your roots(show him where exactly you want more). when i get anything done to my hair i always take a picture so that i don't have to worry about explaining it to my beautician, she can see it.

You can have your hair dresser put the relaxer on your hair all the way I've never known one that didn't and if it doesn't look good the way she does it then maybe your seeing the wrong person for the job.
because the ends of your hair have already been relaxed. if you use the chemicals on one part of the hair too many times it will become dry, split and break off, not to mention your hair will not grow longer through having split ends.

ask your hairdresser how you can eliminate the poofyness in humid weather. she will most likely recommend some good hair sprays and conditioner/shampoos.
    hey =)

i get a perm every month so let me tell you.

if your hair dresser were to put the relaxer on the ends of your hair,

your hair would become damaged at the ends. you'd get

unruly split ends and possibly start losing your hair. see if

your hair dresser can hot comb the ends for you. it works for

me very well, and trust me, my hair is CRAZY! lol

    hope i helped. =)
i dont think so coz i get my hair relaxed all the way through just ask your hair dresser to put it on the ends or to just cut the ends off where it looks silly hope this helps

How do I discribe to my hair dresser that I want my hair Razor cut to look Scene?

what I mean by that is , I want her to razor cut my hair but they always do it so ******* preppy looking and i hate it, I don't know how to explain to her that i want it cut so its razor layered and thinner near the ends. How do I discribe to my hair dresser that I want my hair Razor cut to look Scene?
Try going to a hair salon where they specifically do hair cuts that are punk. I would definately try toni%26amp;guy. They're kinda expensive (depending if you get someone experienced or not as experienced) but it'll definately be worth it. An old roommate of mine works there and she does my hair wonderfully. I get my haircuts for free though since she's a friend, so I don't really know the average price for a hair cut. Sorry.

If you can't go there, try looking on the internet for a salon that specifies in punk hair. How do I discribe to my hair dresser that I want my hair Razor cut to look Scene?
Well try explaining it to her the best you can and if you know anyone with this haircut that you want or if you can find any pics online take them in and show them to your hairdresser to help her give you the haircut you want. Hope this helps!

What should I ask my hair dresser for?

So I have really thick curly hair, is there a way to thin it from my stylist? Also I want to grow out my bangs but I want them neater? So what should I ask my stylist? What should I ask my hair dresser for?
yea hairdressers have special thinning shears which are like scissors with teeth that cut some of the hairs and overall thins it.

i havent gotten it done but im thinking about it because im getting my hair cut tomorrow, but my mom thinks it'll make it look frizzier but i dont know

for your bangs, just tell her to trim them a little or just even out the endsWhat should I ask my hair dresser for?
ask ur hair dresser that u want neater bangs. get ur hair straighted and that u want like a cool style to bring ur hair out

How can I explain this to my hair dresser?

I want to get bangs but I don't want totally sweeping ones or just cropped. I kinda want a in between but I don't know how to really explain this so she understands. Can someone help me and maybe get a picture to help with this??? ThanksHow can I explain this to my hair dresser?
Tell her you want bangs, but not side swept bangs or just plain old cropped bangs, but bangs in between. Say by in between I mean bangs that sweep over to the side without being crazy. Show her how far you want them to be swept over and how long you want them to be. I would send you a picture, but I don't know your personal preferences on how or where you want your bangs. I'd suggest going to google images or look up hair magazines online to illustrate how you think your bangs should look like.

    I hope

I helped(:How can I explain this to my hair dresser?

How can I ask my hair dresser to cut my hair like Ashley Tisdales?

I don't wan't to say Ashley Tisdale, so how do I describe the hair? How can I ask my hair dresser to cut my hair like Ashley Tisdales?
Print out the pic and hand it to ur hairdresser and ask the hairdresser to cut ur hair like thatHow can I ask my hair dresser to cut my hair like Ashley Tisdales?
just ask for side bangs or choppy ones, and cut hair a little past the shoulder. also it looks like she might have layers in the pic... not sure about that though. but the best way is to bring the picture in because hair stylists are visual people.
    It's simple.

Just go to you hair dresser and tell him to cut your hair like Ashly Tisdales without bringing the picture in.
You HAVE to take a picture in if the hairdresser doesnt know what to do when you say this:

''I want my hair cut like Ashley Tisdales''

    simple.
you will have to bring in the pic but if you cant try choppy layers
Print the picture then walk up to your barber and say ';Cut my hair like this please'; That should just about do it....

How do I explain side swept bangs to my hair dresser?

I don't think my dresser knows how to do them, so how do I tell her?

I would show a pic, but my printer is dead :(How do I explain side swept bangs to my hair dresser?
if you have a cell phone with a camera on it...

    or a camera in general..

find a picture on the internet and take a pic...

and if your hairdresser doesnt know what side swept bangs are they probably shouldnt be a hair dresser lol.

goodluckHow do I explain side swept bangs to my hair dresser?
i don't think you should be going to a hairdresser who doesn't know what side swept bangs are. try to find a picture in one of the haircut books at your salon to show her an example. or find it in a magazine or catalogue or something.
You must have a camera on you mobile/cell phone.

Find the picture you want online,

then take a picture of that picture on your phone.

    Show her that!

i had to do it a few months back :)
I'm pretty sure a hair dresser would no. But if not just use your hair and show her how you want them to look by pulling your hair to the side like the bangs you want, if that makes sense
trust me, a hair dresser will know what they are

just tell them u want side swept bangs. that simple.

  • Would my hair dresser think this sounds crazy?

I'm going to get my haircut tomorrow, this is what I'm planning to ask for:

Razored short layers cut half way down and long layers the rest of the way.

The people there are really down to earth but they seem very judgemental and I don't want to sound stupid when I tell them what I want.Would my hair dresser think this sounds crazy?

Dont be afraid to say what you want!!!!

    good luck!

    answer mine??
