hi, well it depends where you live really. If you live in Kent, my mum is a great hairdresser and has been for almost 20years. She would do your hair very well and at a good price too. If you live near Oxted/Sevenoaks way it would be ideal. Otherwise, look around a few hairdressers and check out their prices, all hairdressers will do what you are asking for. good luck

I usually tip between $10-$15 depending what service I had done. I don't think you should go below $10. But like that other person said. I've heard you're supposed to tip about the same you would at a restaurant 15-20%.

yes salons generally use colour that is not publicly available and colorist know the rules and laws of hair colour to get you the result you want hair is not just a piece of fabric that when a dye is applied to it will come out exactly what is stated on the box there are so many factors that go into getting the correct and true result and should be left to the professionals unless you have spent years learning colour and deal with multiple colour scenarios every dayIs the hair dye used in hair dressers/salon better quality than home dye kits?

Hi, can anyone recomend a good male hair dresser in the Black Country area?
I have had a closely shaven head for about 10 years now and I have always done it myself at home with my own razor but now my hair has been allowed to grow and I feel the time is right for a change! I never let anyone other than my hairdresser touch my hair because of a bad experience at another salon. Unfortunately i am in a different city at the moment and dont know where to go that is a nice, clean place that will understand how nervous i am about going somewhere different. A short cut will look great with your face shape! Focus on your cheekbones will make you jaw look thinner, if you think your face is *too* square (which it's not, but I know how we ladies get!). Also, the less hair you have actually covering your face, the longer your face will look.
The thing with thick hair is the shorter you go, the poofier it'll get, as it won't be weighed down. I don't mean to suggest you can't go short without going poofy, but you do need to think about what kind of layering you want. Lots of layers can thin out your hair, and work great with a short cut.
Minimal layering, though, can leave your hair a bit heavier, thus less poofy. But go somewhere in between, with just a few layers, and you might regret it.

It depends on your area.. are you rural or in a metro area. I choose not to disclose how much I make personally, but I know a lot of people that make anywhere from $65,000- $125,000. but that will come with time. Starting out dont expect to be banking 6 figures. Get all the experience and training you can, Assist, and Intern. The pay may suck , but it will be worth it in the end. Also check out some of the DVD's to expand and advance your craft.

What are some good tips for a hair dressers resume?
Resumes and cover letters are just lists and letters about your accomplishments and attributes that are applicable to the industry and position you're applying for, but they follow a very specific format. I would start by creating a long list of all your accomplishments in your certification and previous work as a hair dresser, and any othere relevant work you've done. Then do some research online on how to format your resume perfectly. Make sure it doesn't have any spelling or grammar errors!

lol joys of being 14...hormones. this is the reason ur hair is greasy.
try using a shampoo tht is tea tree based, tea tree oil is known to be good for greasy hair, dandruff, and sore itchy scalps.
good example of tea tree based shampoo is orginal source tea tree and mint shampoo/conditioner which can b found in boots, superdrug, sainsburys etc.
also, avoid using conditioner on ur roots, use it on midlength and ends onli and rinse ur hair in cold water for the final rinse.Hey. anyone got good hair advice. any hair dressers out there?x?
Get a shampoo for normal/damaged hair. Use the conditioner which matches the shampoo. Let your hair dry naturally when possible. Using conditioner WON'T make your hair greasy. Washing your hair WON'T ruin it.
Wash your hair at least every 3 days. Wash with warm water, then once rinsed put your head under cold water. If you must blow dry your hair blow dry it, then turn the dryer onto the cold setting and blast it with cold until the heat has gone from your hair. (this closes the follicles so it will help) Try not to use straighteners or curlers as these make your hair greasy. Don't brush your hair any more than twice a day. Don't play with your hair, your hands will make it greasy. Don't use mousse or any other products on your hair.

In all honesty from my experience cheap store bought items never work as well as going to a salon. If you have a trusted hair stylist go to them and be very specific about what you want. there is a salon called scruples by aveda ( on highway 7) that is really good at that kind of haircut..if you can you would be better off bringing in a picture of exactly what you want.

I tried Sherry and Co. but the girl I had made my hair uneven and wasn't very nice. If there is someone else you recommend at Sherry and Co. I wouldn't mind going back and trying them. I think you'll likely pay more if you go to one in the city centre. Even some of the larger hairdressers like Peter Mark tend to be cheaper in some shops than others. There's a cheaper than average one in the GPO arcade but I wasn't thrilled with the haircut I got there.
Bray in Co. Wicklow is a fair distance from north Dublin, but the hairdressers there are much cheaper than the average. There's one fairly close to the Dart Station (and Dunnes Stores supermarket) that isn't bad.
Peter Mark have 20% off hair colouring at the moment, during the week. I think a lot of women get their hair cut professionally but colour it themselves, thereby saving a lot of money.

They can do a strand test to see how resistant it is to bleaching. One thing they did tell me is that using Head and Shoulders repeatedly can help fade your colour quickly. Hope that helps.

Right now I wear Remy clip in extensions but I don't like that I have to put them in everyday. I've done the glue in extentions and those area big pain to remove all the glue and they rip out my hair. I'd really like to try the fusion bond kind. Any salon suggestions? well i'm korean and i started getting the Thermal Straightening done about 4 years ago and it's amazing.
you go about every 6-10 months and get it straightened.
the first session is the worst, i was there for 9 hours but i had really long hair then, not i have shoulder length hair.
some really ritzy ';american'; salons do offer it, but it's far more expensive.
my hair was really thick, bushy, and just blegh! ugly before i got it straightened.
it saves a lot of time in the morning.
all i do it blow dry it or air dry it and it's still nice and silky smooth!!
but the whole chinese/japanese deal doesnt really matter, it's all the same technique pretty much and asians call it ';magic straight';
why? i dont know, i think it's lame but Americans call it ';thermal straightening.';
i highly recommend it if you're willing to pay the price (about $150-$400)
we paid i think $350 for my first session.
my mom was really willing to though because i had struggle with my gross hair for a long time.

i straighten ma hair almost everyday but i make sure that i use a heat protection cream for the hair. ma hairs sooo thick...lol but i wouldnt get it stragithened permanently cos it wont even last for long. ma frend had hers done... it looked gd for a while den it went bak to normal

For this past year i've been really tired with my hair. My friends all changed theirs recently and I want to change mine up. I've been a fan of the emo style for a bit, and I've decided its the style I want to go for. So This summer I want to get an emo haircut, as well as put some color in my hair. I am not sure though, what to tell my hairdresser so that he/she knows what I want. Make sure you tell your hairdresser you want a lot of short layers around the top of your head. You also need to get the ends of the layers razored. Oh and if you want it long just tell her you want it to stay the same length and get short layers on top and still do the ends being razored.
For the bangs: Tell your hairdresser you want front fringed bangs. That way you can part them how you like.

And to do this, they will use a razor comb.
I managed to get the 'scene cut' by cutting it myself using a razor, that was aaaages ago now :)
Although alot of scenes actually have shorter hair but they just use hair extensions.

The one that I go to has a very young employee base and they enter competitions ALL the time. They have to keep up with the latest trends and are constantly participating in courses and updates to their portfolios.
It costs me a bit more money than I'd like, but I've NEVER left feeling disappointed.
if any of your friends have hair that is similar to that, and you like it, then ask them who their hairdresser was, and try them out.
The second picture looks easier to cut, let them know you want short choppy layers, but thinner and longer layers at the bottom.
I would suggest trying to find a picture thats more centered.

I want a thin pink stripe on my hair and need a pic. to show my hair dresser!!!!?
i have long (ish) blond hair and i want a thin pink stripe in my hair but i need a pic. to show my hair dresser!!!! i dont care what color stripe is in the pic but i just need an example!!

if i were u i would get an colored extension so u can have it any color that floats ur boat when ever they only take 2 mins to add 1 so there easier for a stylist to do then pick the hair out for a pieice of color that can take up to 30 mins for one pieice so i would go for an extension thats what i got and i loved it!! but here is a pic of a strand of color!!

Talk to your mom about how it is more than just what the stereotype brings. Explain to your mom the reasons why you'd like your haircut, and then tell her that if it doesn't work out for her you'd be willing to try and change it. When I first wanted to dye my hair, my mom was like...
';No! A respectable young man should never do that.'; And then I explained to her how comfortable it would make me and everything and she eventually let me :)
You just have to print out pictures, and if she is not 100% confident that she can do it then you need to search around. Also, get her to give you a hands on teaching of how to do it each morning when you get home :)I want to cut my hair like this how do i ask my hair dresser ?
Remember to bring loads of photos as even if you describe it in detail the hairdresser can still get it wrong. Try to get photos from all angles as this will help.

im 13 years old and i want to get a sortof scene hair style i want to get it platnum blonde with dark brow underneath and choppy layers my mom has aproved and phoned my hairdresser Rina but i dont like Rina she has this thing that she HAS to throw in her unwanted opinion so she says oh your daighters to young to get her hair that color and i have to say i look quite old for my age so i dont no what she talking about, so every time i ask my mom to switch hair dressers so i can get my hair dyed she says she will ground me if i say it one more time and knowing my hair dresser she will give me something toataly diffrent from what i asked for!
help me please!

I went to a salon and they gave me a haircut that was completely wrong for me. I will never go back there. Hair is way too important to continue to go to a place where they don't listen to you. Does your hairdresser have a boss? If so, complain to them. Or make a huge fuss in the hair salon afterwards, making sure to be clear that it isnt what you asked for.

UGHH Im in grade 10 (15 years) and i tell everyone that i dont know what to be when i grow up. I want to do something with hair and makeup not clothes though. All my friends have their futures planned out already. They are all going to be lawyers and doctors and stuff. The only time i feel passionate is when im doing hair or makeup. My mom hates the idea because it doesnt pay well and she says i am too smart for a stupid job. I dont know what to do?! My best friend's mom is a hair dresser and owns her own salon, it's not big or anything, just her own shop by the mall. Your mom is right in the sense that you are not going to be getting rich but you'll earn enough to make a living and if you like doing it, well, more power to ya.
Even if you're not getting rich my friend's mom is a single mother with two kids and she is doing just fine supporting both of them.
Don't let anyone, not even your parents get in the way of pursuing what you want. No matter what you end up doing, as long as you are happy andsuccessfull I'm sure your mom will be happy too.My mom hates that i want to be a hair dresser!?

Go with your passion. I wanted to be either a flight attendant or hairdresser and makeup artist and my mother felt a flight attendant is just a waitress in the sky. My mom felt too, that a hairdresser and makeup artist were menial jobs. You could work for celebrities, models, etc. Your mom's looking out for your best interests, but be what YOU want to be, not what your mother wants you to be. Good Luck!
Well I had that same issue! Look, you can make money in anything you set your mind to. If you love what you do then your clients will love coming to you...so then you'll get a lot of business...which equals to more money. Yeah it might be slow at first but you can always work your way up. Like owning your own salon!

Well my hair dresser charges me 20.00 for a cut (only) it takes about 15 min. and someone is always waiting to get in the chair when I leave. Say she cuts 3 heads an hour that is 60.00 an hour. Pretty good money if you ask me. Follow your dream.

haha, i changed what i wanted to be like 15 times from ages 14-now (19), and i'm sure your friends will too. don't worry about it. keep what you would love doing in your mind and don't let anyone get you to lose sight of that.
There is really good money in hair styling, if your a great stylist or colorist, I pony up $97 dollars every 5 wks. and that doesn`t include tip. Not everyone wants or needs to go to college.
