Bring in the picture. 9 times out of 10 they'll know exactly what to do :)What should I ask my hair dresser to do to get this style? 10 pts?
If possible you could get a picture of his hair like that then give it to your hairdresser. I do that all the time if I'm trying to copy someone's hairstyle.
your hair dresser should know what to do. take a pic in and ask them to recreate it, some places are great and everywhere i've been sucks so do it at your own risk!
either bring a picture

or ask for choppy hair, earish lenght with choppy side swept bangs
ask them to shape your hair into your face, simple and stylishh ;)
get a picture of it and jus show them
If you take a photo, you don't really need key words. Just indicate anything slightly different than the photo that you might want. I don't know any word for his style except helmet hair, and it really isn't an appropriate or popular style outside of middle school age, so if you are older than that I would suggest something else, since the style really does not suit most guy's head shape, face and neck shape, frontal hairline or facial features, just as it does not suit Justin Bieber. He is a nice looking young man but his haircut does nothing to complement his appearance. It gives an overall round look to his face and a feminine rounded look to his skull shape. Most high school and older guys don't want a haircut that imparts a feminine appearance, but a masculine appearance. I suggest going for whatever style you want. If it's a crew cut or taper cut, so be it. If your girlfriend no longer wants to be a girlfriend because you have a haircut that every other high school football or basketball player is wearing, good to find out that she really wasn't interested in a guy as a person. One other thing to know is that sometimes teen aged and even older girls play around with guys and ask them to do something like getting a certain haircut, not really because they want their boyfriend to get the haircut or think he will look good in it, but to see to what degree they can control him. Some do it because they want a boyfriend they can control. Others do this because they want a strong boyfriend who is not afraid to to say no, I don't like that style, he looks like a little boy. I'll cut my hair like I want, like a guy. A good barber can design one of the following regular classic styles to suit almost any guy. Might also want to take a look at the short, medium, long and celebrity galleries at the haircuts for men site.

Some barbers describe an ivy league as a crew cut just long enough to be parted and combed to the side, if so desired. An ivy league can also be worn with the hair brushed up off the forehead to form the short pomp front, or with the short bangs brushed down on the forehead like a forward brush cut.

Essential barbering knowledge:

Grooming any of the short pomp(pompadour) styles- crew cut, ivy league, flat top crew cut- is basically the same and takes about a minute or two.

1) Towel dry hair.

2) Barely dip fingertips in jar of wax.

3)Transfer wax to palms.

4) Smooth palms over hair.

5)Brush hair off forehead to form short pomp front.

Whichever style you decide on, be sure to take a photo to help describe the desired haircut to the barber or stylist.

Good Luck!
