I am starting a job at smart styles that pays an hourly base of 7.25 an hour or if you meet 2000 dollars by cut off in middle of the month then you make 45 to 55% commission depending on how much you bring in. I also get to keep all of my tips. I am just scared of the financial situation because I make 13.50 an hour now doing something totally different but I feel it is time to move on. I just need to know I can make it financially because I have a family to support. So if anyone can answer this question I would greatly appreciate the help. Thank you!How much money can I expect to make my first year as a hair dresser?
If you manage to bring in lots of customers for yourself, you'll make good money. If you don't, you won't.How much money can I expect to make my first year as a hair dresser?
Remember until you have proved yourself to the market you will not be receiving that many customers, those with the experience and repeat clients will make the most. It could take you at least a few months to start earning the kind of income you require or expect unless you are offering your clients a better service than the other individuals you work with. So to start out, expect the 6.25 cut in pay, and within six months or a year, you should be up to or above where you were. You might want to see if you can keep your current job and work part time at the new place until you have built up clientele to work with.
