Im getting my haircut first time at the hair dressers need help ..?

ive got long , thin black/dark brown hair. i wouldn't say my hair is thick cuz it is quite thin.

but yeah i decided i want a side fringe ( but i dont know what kind is there any kind ? ) i dont want a heavy one cuz my hair is quite thin..

also i want layers - and i want short layers at the top and i want them to get longer .. how much hair will i loose ..? and how will it look ..? any pics ?

and can u suggest any other haircuts for my hair type ..?
