GHD IV my hair dresser think they are overated, anyone else agree/disagree?

I've heard that they are the best, but no one can sem to explain WHY?

surely there are other Straighteners with the same spec? for a fraction of the price. my main concern is that it makes my hair look good, and NOT because if the GHD label.

I'd appreciate anyone experiences?

I have to say that they are the best straighteners I have ever had. They are really quick, glide through my hair and the straightening effect lasts longer. GHD IV my hair dresser think they are overated, anyone else agree/disagree?
they are SO over rated. all u pay for is the label GHD. trust me i've had them and they were crappy they only have one temperature setting whereas u can get much better ones that come in better colours, give u better style and have temperature settings and they are much cheaper! X
My straighteners are called CHI, they were recommended to me by my stylist and they are very good. I think that GHD used to be the best you could get, but now there are many more that are as good and cheaper.
If you have thick, long locks, I recommend you spend the money if you can. It will pay for itself over the long haul. Yes, there are other, less expensive straighteners on the market. Some of them do a decent job too. None are anywhere near comparable with the GHD IV though. Those babies last for years, heat up quickly, glide right through even the thickest, unruliest of locks, and most importantly, they WORK--leaving your hair straight, smooth and glossy for more than just a few hours. While I've not seen it myself, I've heard some women go so far as to say that with regular use, the hair starts to get a bit straighter.
I have GHD's. They are pretty much the same as other straighteners as far as I am concerned. The bottom line is all straighteners burn your hair no matter what the make is. There is none that will burn your hair less that others and anyone who says otherwise are just not very smart.
i love the ghd make, i find them the smoothest to use and i personally get the best look from them. i changed my straighteners about 2 yrs ago and ive had nothing but problems over heating, coating coming off etc

ive used other makes and find after a few months they aint as smooth. im going back to ghd brand and sticking with it
I've been using GHD's for about 2-yrs and think they're great, compared to the brand I was using before (Toni n Guy)...

They are very expensive, but whilst out shopping for some Straighteners for my daughter for xmas recently, I couldn't believe the prices on other brands!! the average cost for a set was over 拢50,

There's a relatively new set out that has the Nutri-Heat capsule in the plate, I have the hairdryer n its great, so maybe these would be worth a try. Check on a comparison website n look at The reviews, this should give you a better opinion.. Good luck!
I have converted from GHD's to the Babyliss Pro 230 Radiance straighteners - which are awesome AND cheaper!

By far the best I've ever used.

Ive posted a couple links to it below...

(im a girls by the way, Milo is my cat!)

My hairdresser said the exact same thing! She used to have all GHDs in her salon but they kept on breaking, so she got new ones called Corioliss straighteners

These ones:
