ok so in april this year my colour went wrong and went black i used head and shoulders and just coped with the colour now its dark brown/black colour even though i really wish it didn't have to come to it i am very unhappy with the colour i'm hispanic but have light brown complexion skin so the colour does drain me a little so now i#m going to resort in having it stripped to my natural brown but have some questions as i am a bit nervous of doing it i plan to get it done after christmas so here goes the questions
1. how damaging is it?
2. as im getting it done after christmas is there any conditioning treatments i can do over christmas to strenghten my hair a little so it doesnt break as much after its stripped?
3. i have thickish hair i had layers that thinned it out but am just getting my thickness back will stripping my hair make it thin?
.4 last but not least! i have coloured my hair in the past so it does break from time to time also when stressed i do loose a little more hair than usual (not noticable on the scalp) is this a bad idea i dont but any stress on my hair now i dont ever straighten it and i never use a hair dryer is this still a bad idea like i said last time i coloured it was in april
thank you very much your answers will be appreciated!
Nervous about having colour stripped from my hair... hair dressers advice please or anyone who had it done?
hi i'm a hairdresser and ive had it done to my own hair.
1) chances are they will be using bleach to strip the colour out of ur hair, in which case it will damage ur hair.
2) yep conditioning b4and after is so so important and can make a hell of a difference. best type of conditioner to use is a reconstructing one which will help repair the hair. also using a leave in conditioner on towel dried hair will help as well, helps add moisture and detangle the hair.
3) the stripping itself wont change the hair structure in tht way, however hair cud appear thinner if its broken off.
products:
shampoo - matrix biolage ultra hydrating shampoo, paul mitchell shampoo one, paul mitchell instant moisture daily shampoo, TIGI honey and oatmeal shampoo
conditioner/treatments - TIGI dumb blonde conditioner (can b used as either normal daily conditioner or left on as a treatment), paul mitchell hair repair, matrix biolage ultra hydrating balm, TIGI control freak conditioner.
leave in conditioner - paul mitchell awapuhi mist, if ur in uk - boot's own make of coconut leave in conditioner 拢1.29, or even a kids detangling spray will help.
ive had it done to my own hair - i had blonde on top and dark red underneath an had the all the underneath bleached bk to blonde, took alot of conditioning but my hairs getting bk to normal, but it will take a good 6 - 8 months before its really bk to good condition.
in the end to help save my hair, i had weaved extensions put in to give my hair a break. ur own hairs braided an strips of hair sewn in..

don't be worried,
stripping the colour does damage you're hair but not that badly!
you'll just have to use some deep conditioner for the next few months!
don't stress about it!
it'll be fine.
have a lovely christmas %26lt;3
My hair was pretty damaged from all the bleaching I do, and I still stripped it twice (once with extra strength stuff) when it went too dark (and then too dark again, grrr) and its fine.
Yes its dry now, but as long as you treat it nicely it should be fine. Just invest in some good salon brands to condition it, like tres semme or scruples. I also use the nice n easy colour lock conditioner once a week, it makes it extra glossy and shiny.
Good luck!
